Cadmium was discovered by Friedrich Strohmeyer, a
German chemist, in 1817.

zinc carbonate.
More Information
- Strohmeyer noticed that some samples of calamine
changes color when he heated, while other samples did
not.
- Nowadays, scientists know that cadmium most often
occurs in tiny
quantities, generally associated with zinc
"ores".
- The only mineral which contains a significant
amount of Cadmium is known as Greenockite (CdS).
